matador
04:41
|
|||
In a hotel in ecuador
a matador slams shut the door
across lonely quito
broken hooves churn up the floor
he knew that it would end like this
with a fight and one final kiss
and a knife that he knew could not miss
would make it look so effortless
to bait the bull and wait
to pull away before it's too late
the matador has spoke
there's nothing left to say
he calmly strides across the square
his eyes with a thousand yard stare
the whispers cut throught the air
across town, the bulls nostrils flare
red, like the hair that she left
the bed, still soaked with her sweat
he bows to the crowd with respect
as the roses, they fall at his steps
eye to eye with the bull's fiery gaze
like a statue, he's frozen with rage
and as the bull begins to run
it would finish what that girl begun
the bull charged and he closed his eyes
the cape just hung dull at his side
the crowd fell silent, not a sound
as el fuerte collapsed on the ground
to bait the bull and wait
to pull away before it's too late
the matador you know
he's nothing left to say
to show her what she'd done
he let it run him through
and now the matador
has nothing left to prove
he fell at the plaza they say
a simple slip, el fuerte's mistake
how could someone so strong and so brave
simply be carried away

Perplexing Appeal
06:05
|
|||
you sing so sweet
when the song was discreet
you water the flower
that eyes will devour
the same slender limb
that you held out for him
and I'm clutching on
just fighting the wind
I can't go to sleep
because when I dream
it makes me believe
that I've got you
I awake with the shakes
aching for a
loving that's fake
it's not true
so sing it again
and call me your friend
sucking your thumb
and playing pretend
the passionate moan
that's born to disown
the scent of your breath
is all I've got left
if black and white
are so wrong and right
then why can't I make up my mind
cuz red and blue's
just a purple hue
if you can't choose
just where to draw the line
don't it make you feel bad
like you've been cut in half
don't it make you so sad
it's the perplexing appeal
of those things you can't have
well I've been up and down so long
that babe it's a crime
I've been turned on inside out
just right on a dime
baby if you want me
please let me know
and if you don't
then baby won't
you please let me go
I can't go to sleep
because when I dream
it makes me believe
that I've got you
I awake with the shakes
aching for a
loving that's fake
it's not true
don't it make you feel bad
like you've been cut in half
don't it make you so sad
it's the perplexing appeal
of those things you can't have

Last Train
04:08
|
|||
well I'm leavin
on the last train rollin
my hearts beaten
and my bruises are swollen
where I'm headin
no I'm not certain
oh oh
well I'm leanin
back to see the sunrise
arms folded
enjoying time to close my eyes
and I'm seein
sweet home Missouri
and this train
is rollin in a hurry
oh oh
hey hey hey hey...

Kick to the Ribs
05:16
|
|||
a mans man stands by his word,
his breath is some strange currency in this world,
a mans man draws lines in the sand,
and if another man cross em you know he's less of a man
babe you know I'm the one,
who'll push away the storm clouds and bring the sun
bring you roses when you ain't got none,
for you I'd even rip off the stones.
'cause I could take a kick right to the ribs
a broken jaw and a swollen fist
but there's one thing I can't survive
that's a night without you by my side.
babe you know I'm the one,
just a man tryin to change,
tryin just to rearrange
all the thing that make me feel the same
'cause I could take a kick right to the ribs
a broken jaw and a swollen fist
but there's one thing I can't survive
that's a night without you by my side.
let me teach you something new,
that you never learned in Sunday school...
